Vintage Wine Estates is a dynamic, growing organization seeking an Assistant Tasting Room Manager to join our team. The Assistant Tasting Room Manager will be highly talented at balancing the delivery of a gracious experience for all guests while maintaining a strong focus on sales strategies and techniques. This position will provide support, mentorship and leadership to the tasting room staff to ensure a high standard of service while meeting annual sales goals.


  • Assist in the creation, implementation and maintaining of strategies to meet and exceed goals set by corporate
  • Coordinate menus (both wine and food) with release schedule
  • General maintenance and upkeep in tasting room (whether facilitating through outside sources or internally)
  • Maintain clear and open communication with Tasting Room Manager
  • Communicate to-date sales updates to team
  • Responding to all emails and voicemails in a timely manner
  • Greet all visitors and pour wines for tasting
  • Create a memorable experience for guests
  • Sell wine and wine club memberships based on monthly goal
  • Describe wines and winery history; answer visitors’ questions about wines
  • Provide general tourist information
  • Assist with special events as needed
  • Represent winery at outside functions as needed
  • Acquire and maintain thorough knowledge of winery and its wines
  • Prepare and manage food for wine pairings as necessary
  • All other duties assigned


  • Excellent people management and customer service skills
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Knowledge of wines and wine production
  • Commitment to excellence and high standards
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and POS systems
  • Must be capable of working independently while managing multiple tasks at once
  • Ability to manage priorities and workflow
  • Professional appearance and demeanor
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions


  • 3+ years’ experience with tasting room management
  • Evidence of superior sales performance preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts and percentages
  • TIPS and CA Food Handler Certifications preferred, but not required
